I’m so tired. Again. I’ve spent the past 12 hours marking papers online. I’m sure my eyes are going to bug out if I sit here any longer. 28 done, 110 to go. At this rate I’ll be done sometime Thursday.
I’m too tired to play WoW, too tired to clean or do dishes. Too tired to drive, too tired to crawl to my bed – or even the couch. I don’t know how I’ll get the papers done, not to mention my Monday and Tuesday jobs and class. I’m back to being crippled by the unknown.
I looked in the mirror today and considered growing out the fringe that masquerades as my bangs. I noticed my forehead – the one that lives buried beneath said fringe. The worry lines that my ballet teacher always had to tell me to relax have gotten much deeper since I last looked at them. Guess I’ll be keeping the bangs.
I need that crystal ball, the one that tells me which of the many things I’m trying to do is actually worth it, the one that tells me that somehow I get it all done, that it all pays off and that someday I’ll get to take a break. Could someone send one by please?
You know those times when you know you really should try something, that friends are using it and say it’s good but for one reason or another you just can’t get around to it? I mean, what you have is good enough – really good even, so what else could be this good? Read more
Update: Opera 9 has a widget for Pandora. I’ve got it set to always on top and stuck it in the corner of my secondary monitor. I’ll keep it there for now while I’m refreshing my knowledge of artist names and song titles.
Jeff told Rob, and Rob told me to try out Pandora’s new music service. Based on an artist’s name or song title that you provide, Pandora searches the Music Genome Project to find other music you might like. Read more
marshallkirkpatrick’s blog post on NetSquared yesterday is a perfect find for those hunting for a bookmarks manager: “Tips on choosing a social bookmarking tool” starts with del.icio.us (owned by Yahoo now – did you know?), and includes Furl, Ma.gnolia and MarkaBoo.
I started with del.icio.us yesterday, imported my bookmarks from Firefox, took one look at the mess it made and spent an hour trying to delete and reorganize. I ended up deleting the account and starting over – this time importing no bookmarks. Read more
Anyone tried this yet? Google’s come out with a sync for Firefox settings, including bookmarks, history, persistent cookies, and saved passwords. It claims to slow the start time of Firefox – and of course Google gets to know more about me because you have to have a google account to play. Read more
I’m looking for a nice, useful and usable web-based calendar-organizer application for organizing my ever increasing crazy life. I’m already a happy Mozilla user of Firefox and Thuderbird so checked to see what the Mozilla team had for me. It turns out, not much. Lightning and Sunbird, while they have nice names, are still too much in development for me to take my chances. I’m okay with bugs like “data loss” when I’m just playing around but when there are important meetings with important people to keep organized, I need something a little more reliable. (This as of June 2006). Read more
You might be playing too much World of Warcraft when:
you see a listing on the Freecycle website for a green leather bag and you wonder how many slots it has.
We come into the world alone, unlike all who have gone before us; we leave it alone under circumstances peculiar to ourselves. ~Elizabeth Cady Stanton, from Solitude of Self, Address delivered before the Committee of the Judiciary of the United States Congress, Monday, January 18, 1892.
And no two people are the same, nor can we understand what goes on inside another’s mind. Empathy and support are ‘kind’ and ‘good’, but ultimately, we are alone. Not only do we need the knapsack of tools and the skills with which to navigate; we also need the knowledge that we ourselves must take initiative for the courses that our lives take.
I’ve always wanted to give geocaching a try. Wikipedia calls it outdoor treasure hunting and I’m going to need a GPS unit. (gettin’ geeked gettin’ geeked) Read more
